Babies to Pre-school
We care for every age group from 3 months to 5 years. Each of our nurseries is divided into 4 groups each
having its own room, facilities and access to our outside play areas:
Baby Unit (0-1 years)
Within the baby unit your baby will be cared for by specialist baby carers. Each of our baby unit carers
looks after no more than 3 babies.
Each baby has his or her own cot, bouncy chair and feeding table which is personal to them throughout their whole time in the baby unit. They also have access to a room full of soft and other baby toys and activities.
We provide all nappies but ask that you supply any creams or lotions, clearly labelled with your child’s name, should you wish to use them. We also ask that you provide ready prepared baby milk which we then safely store within a dedicated milk kitchen within the baby unit.
Toddler Room (1-2 years)
We discuss with you when the time is right for your baby to move on to our Toddler room. The
ultimate decision for the timing of this will rest with you and your baby will therefore not move until
you feel happy for him or her to do so.
Whilst in the Toddler room your child will start to develop more social and interaction skills. We also start to introduce various activities such as water and safe play, messy play, painting and reading (stories and music).
Tweenies Room (2-3 years)
As with your child’s move from the baby unit to the Toddler room, we will discuss with you when
the time is right for your child to move on to the Tweenies room.
At this age children become a lot more active and sociable and they therefore start to form relationships with other children. This is obviously an important part of your child’s development and as such we encourage your child’s social skills through various activities and play.
Our Tweenies rooms also have ‘home corners’ where our children take part in role play, reading (book) corners which contain a wide selection of reading materials for the children to look at individually and as part of a group during reading (story) sessions, arts and crafts areas and various toys and activities (including many different ride-on toys).
Pre-school (3-5 years)
Our pre-school is structured around the six areas of the Foundation Stage Curriculum.
This is the curriculum that has been devised by OFTSTED and which all day care
providers are encouraged to follow.
Our aim in the pre-school is to make the transition from nursery to school as smooth as possible and to ensure that our children are adequately prepared in all respects. We have relationships with all schools local to our nurseries and we keep in constant touch with them so that we can be sure that what we are doing within the pre-school will compliment what your child will do when they begin life at school.
